    Dear friend
If you still need a list of brazilian LR garages and so many others informations regarding parts and services, please let me know in private and I will send to you a copy of our "LR Yellow List" (MQG- Páginas Amarelas). I am sure it is the best place to find out such informations in Brazil. Good luck, mg (murilo.galvao.queiroz@gmail.com)

Em CURITIBA - PARANÁ - Barracão do Jeep - 41-3033-5515
    Way Point S 25º25´07.0"
    W 049º11´31.9"
I got some work done with Rogerio Pino at Barracão do Jeep in Curitiba. Very good work. I recommend Barracão do Jeep to anyone else that needs LR help in Curitiba. I know that Barracão do Jeep is not in the LR "Yellow Pages", but it should be. Good work for good prices. Rogerio Pino is a very nice and fair man. Rogerio replaced my head gasket and found some other things wrong which i was unaware of (cracked injector, broken glow plug, incorrect rocker bolts)

I also stopped in at Adam4x4 in Florianopolis for a check up. The mechanic was smart to do some basic tests and discover that compression gases were leaking into my coolant system. But he recommended that my only solution was a new motor. I thought that was a bit harsh. The mechanic also claimed to have worked on LandRover motors for 30 years, which i find hard to believe.

I also had major work done with Retifica Formigoni in Lins, SP state. Formigoni completely dissembled my engine and replace many of the parts. They checked my block for cracks with a magnaflux test, they retifica my main shaft, they checked my head as well. I think they did a good job on the retifica part, but they did a terrible job of diagnosis and re-assembly of the motor. They put the wrong bolts in many places, they messed up the head and it had to be re-planed, they cracked an injector, they didn't do a water pressure test, they were reluctant to do a compression test, they didn't understand that the timing of the injection pump might have something to do with overheating, they installed 2 head gaskets instead of one, and they couldn't tell the difference between a broken head gasket and bad rings just from looking at the symptoms. They were nice guys and honest, but terrible mechanics..only good at retifica. They even installed the head gasket upside down. They also refused to give me a guarantee for their work even after i paid them R$4100.

My experience with mechanics in Brasil (and Argentina) is actually a very good way of determining who is a good mechanic and who is not. Because i have a type of motor which does not exist in South America, it takes a smart and experienced mechanic to work on my motor properly. Any idiot can turn bolts or read a repair manual - only a good mechanic can listen to a motor and make the correct diagnosis. Unfortunately for me almost all the mechanics i have dealt with the past 3 months weren't very good.

Land Rover´s mechanics in Brazil are allways this bull...
Very few know what they´re doing. Great majority are "try and shit".
Good one´s usually work alone with 2 or 3 young aides.
Great trouble comes when they are promoted and do the job by themselves.
In a non-specialized repair shop they tend to treat your UV as a SUV, and there goes your money and the repair also.
Rio has one of this Lone Rangers, Armindo Aita. 40 years dealing with trucks, buses and 4x4, last 15 with Land Rovers.
He is training his son, Ricardo, to replace him and seems he is fitted for the job. Phone: 21 2270-3252

For used parts, please talk to Bruno at Land Minas. Bruno has a very large number of used Defenders and Discoverys. His prices are good for Brasil. The mechanic who works with Bruno is named Deni. Deni is an amazing mechanic - the best i have seen. If you live or are near Juiz do Fora, it is worth going to Land Minas.
