    hi
i´m from Germany and i´ve found in www an url link

my question is concerning an supplier from your country, which has the parts to modify my Niva - for the moment with PSA 1.9 D engine - to 1.6 volkswagen diesel

think adapting plate for gearbox is needed, may an modified gearbox shaft and some engine holder

it would be very very helpful, to get some support from you - if anybody want´s some information from german parts or suppliers, do not hesitate to ask me

    best regards

    Hi, DieselTom, happy to know!

In Brazil, normally do not replace the 1.9D by 1.6, but the opposite ...

    Want to replace that

Hello! I don't have Niva with VW AP 1.6D, but in this forum the most part of Niva owners that had (or has) Niva with VW AP 1.6D didn't like of the performance of the engine because it's slow and it heat a lot. However, if you want to try, here in Brazil, Niva owners change the Niva´s differential gear for the Laika's differential gear. To fix the engine, is utilized Barcelar's kit ( www.atacama4x4.com.br) ou made their own support. The gearbox is not changed. In the last years, some Niva owners changed for the AP 1.9D and liked very much of the performance. Good luck!

hi together - reason i must change is "micro dust law"

    hi
thanks for the first answers - my old 1.9 PSA will not get permission during next time driving through "micro smoke prohibited areas"

this new crazy law is to get rid of the so called "bad old diesel"
may some people hope to sell new cars with this law - but not with my support

e.g. in franfurt, stuttgart and cologne city it´s forbidden to drive through city centre

alternate i can also think about alcohol - called E 85 - in europe and replace my PSA for an 1.7 petrol engine

it would be really also from interest to learn about what to modify for alcohol and where to purchase the parts

but i´ll prefer the "diesel to change" solution

the one problem with overheating 1.6 D volkswagen we do not have here so much ...

    many thanks
    Tom

Many take advantage of the wave ecological only to take profits ...

For now, not recommended alcohol because of the average temperature in Europe, in cold days, you would have difficulties. I suggest even a 1.7 gas.

There are no specialists in Germany? It would be interesting and closest someone who speaks his language.

Sorry for the mistakes ... I am still learning English... rsrs

    hi Soldier

reason me and many other driving old diesel all about europe and especially in Germany is to be able running plant oil and other grease

therefor alcohol may be also an solution because it´s to make at ourself - but gas and petrol not

think the less problems with temprature starting with alcohol we can fight against with little petrol to mix with

istn´t plantoil driving also popular in Brasil ?
or is the petrol and gas so less expensive overthere you do not have to think about fuel prices ?

PSA 1.9D is the same VW AP 1.9D here in Brazil??? What is PSA???

If you prefer diesel engine, maybe you'd put Fiat 1.7D engine... or VW 1.9TDi... I think, with eletronic injection will reduce the polluents.

About alcohol engine, here Niva owners change the carburetor... Webber 460 is most used, but it's for the alcohol made in Brazil.

Tom, so I feel you want a "motor flex" as it is known in Brazil ... If you no have problems with the temperature of alcohol, so good!

In São Paulo, the fuel is still the most popular gasoline, followed by the alcohol and then diesel (for vehicles such as buses and trucks), however, mainly gasoline, receives many other components (including alcohol) just to make the price lower

    Edson,

PSA is the controler group of Cintroen and Peugeot. So, the 1.9 PSA engine is like a XUD9. Maybe the German VW 1.6 diesel be diferent of old Brazilian VW diesel engine...so much better...

PSA we call the original 1.9 D engine

    hi !

PSA engine is french production diesel - motorcode XUD 9
very often build in citroen and peugeot, e,g peugeot 309, citroen BX, peugeot 205

the Niva was delivered originally with this engine for very short time in europe - it was kind of business partnership to support russian industry in former times with up to date technology

but thins it just have been around 8000 nivas with this engine

PSA is very trditionell manufacturer of high quality diesel engine - but with today smoke and dust trouble
many years ago PSA was called "indenor" may you know from marine engines

but think not it´s much different from yours - why sould it ?
engine code e.g. is JK or CS from the T3 transporter
all 1.6 D / TD are similar to the transporter engine - think you should have this car too - istn´t it ?
