I have another question, the 4 cyl diesel engines in the f1000, what is the horsepower rating? is the transmission a 4 or 5 speed? and what is the rear gear ratio?
We have two periods do see.
Before 1992 and after 1992.
Before 1992 we had 4 and 5 gears, and final ratio was similar, with diferences just in differential ratio.
After 1992 to 1995, we had 2 gears box differents, one hard and one fragile to tork os MWM. Bolths clark, but one is with 5a drive and another with 5a 1:1.
In 1996 to 1998 we had the HSD engine with a Mazda gear box and to the MWM 4.3 liters, the clark gear box.
This Clark gear box is very famous by resistence and durability, with 5 speed gears. The last speed is 1:1 direct, so, the Ford used a long ratio differential. 3,07:1 on non-turbined engines and 4x4 because no have longer ratio to front differential for a F150 on USA. How this parts come from USA, we have a big engine but a reduced final ratio (my case). My F1000 4x4, on 100km/h ou 64mph is a 2000rpm with 33" tires. The maximum rpm to this engine is 3000, som don't permit travel with more speed to 140km/h. Over this the diesel consum is very high and the engine work very hot.
The 4x2 model have 2,72:1 and 2,54:1 differential ratio disponible, so the engine works lighter and the diesel consum is low tham 4x4 versions.
The HSD models have same transmition of F150 4.9i of 6 cilindres. Same, clutch, gear box and differential. Is normal install a diesel engine in this pickup truck model per cause of gasoline price in Brazil.
Price of combustibles in U$.
- Gasoline is U$1,26 per litre. In Brazil is not a pure gasolin, but gasolin mixed with about 25% of alcool, som the consum is raised compared with USA gasoline.
- Diesel is U$0,93 per litre.
- Alcool here were I live is U$1,00 per litre. No compenso to use this combustiblie here. We have a flex fuel engines to use alcohol or gasoline, but de differenci of price no compense to use a alcohol. Just on states that produce this fuel compense the use.
- Natural Veicular Gas ou GNV, is U$0,80, but no compense if you drive little, becauso of Brazilian governament is a joke, and requires a lot of controls to use this fuel. And is not all of engines work well with GNV. The 3.0 v6 Ranger, for example, the heads cracks with time when you use GNV...
Thank you for the information, I am rethinking which way I want to go with my truck, I have a 460 and a C-6 transmission for it, would give it great power but bad mileage. I also have a 302 and a C-4 transmission in the barn, But then after reading about the F-1000 I started thinking about diesel, I have a 1.9L TDI VW that is connected to a Toyota 5 speed that I could put in it, I'm just not sure if it would be big enough. The Cummins 3.9 4bt is kind pricey and if I got one I would still have to find a transmission that would be stronger enough to work behind it, I'm still in the early stages of building this truck so I have time to make a decision.

Mike, the C-6 transmissio fits on 3.9 4bt, but you need find a tork convertor with stall point apropriate to work rpm of cummins. I like so much of automatic transmission, unfortunely we dont have much kind of options in Brazil to this case. The 1.9tdi pushes tha F150, but slowly. When 4x4 high, you won't to like of results...
